The Association defines five membership tiers, distinguished primarily by their voting rights, eligibility for office, and fee structures. Ordinary Members (retail pharmacies/pharmacists), Locum Pharmacist Members, and Life Members (those elected for outstanding service by a 75% majority) all maintain full voting rights and the ability to hold office; notably, Life Members are exempt from subscription fees. Conversely, Affiliate Members (members of other bodies) and Student Members (enrolled pharmacy students) may participate at the Committee’s discretion but are strictly prohibited from voting or holding official positions within the organization
Ordinary Members
These shall consist of retail pharmacies and pharmacists whose pharmacies have up - -to
date subscriptions with the Association. Membership shall be open to all retail pharmacies.
These members shall be eligible to vote and/or hold Office in the Association.
Locum Pharmacist Members
These shall consist of locum pharmacists who are not permanently employed by a retail
pharmacy but would want to be members of the Association. These members shall be
eligible to vote and/or hold office in the Association
Affiliate Members
The Association may, at the discretion of the Committee, accept the members of other bodies as affiliated members of the Association. The Committee shall determine fees to be paid by such affiliated bodies and/or members and may waive such fees at its discretion provided that no such waiver shall be construed as contrary to the right of the Committee to impose such fees at its discretion. Such affliated members shall not be eligible to vote or to hold offce in the Association.
Life Members
These are elected individuals, who in the opinion of the Association, as expressed by a majority of 75% of the members present and voting at an Annual General Meeting, have rendered outstanding service in the course of community pharmacy practice. Such a nomination may be made by two or more ordinary members of the Association in a manner prescribed by the committee. These members shall be eligible to vote and/or hold office in the Association. Subscription fees shall be waived for these members. A separate register of these members shall be kept by the secretary.
Student
These are pharmacy students in good standing in college or any school of pharmacy who have expressed interest in supporting the objects of the Association. Their membership is at the full discretion of the committee. Student members have no voting rights and should be members of the Pharmacy Students Association
Subscriptions
Annual membership fees shall be determined at an Annual General Meeting as part of the budget.
The annual membership subscription shall be due and payable by the 1st of April every year.
Any member who shall be six months in arrears in the payment of their subscription shall not be eligible for election to office or vote at any meeting.
Any member who shall be twelve months in arrears in the payment of their subscription shall be struck off the register of members after being noticed in writing by the Secretary .
When one ceases to be a member, they shall not represent the Association in any matters and shall be recalled from any assignments/ secondments
The Committee may be empowered at a General Meeting to levy fees on whatever basis may be necessary to support projects undertaken by the Association. The Committee may waiver part or all of such fees in any case that it may deem to be necessary and the Committee’s decision shall be final
